Building Partnerships: Education & Community as a Path to Urban Sustainability

 

The Newark Environmental Sustainability Institute (NESI) at Rutgers University-Newark and the PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies at Montclair State University co-sponsored a 2-day workshop.  Building Partnerships: Education & Community as a Path to Urban Sustainability was an engaging workshop that aimed to connect university and community with the goal of building bridges between people and resources.  Nationally acclaimed keynote speakers Dr. Kathleen Tierney, University of Colorado, Boulder, Akiima Price, Akiima Price Consulting, Washington, DC, and Dr. Anu Ramaswami, University of Minnesota shared valuable insights into best strategies for building institutes, integration of education and research, and developing effective community partnerships in sustainability. Interactive breakout sessions led by invited speakers from local community organizations, businesses, and universities, offered the opportunity to network by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among participants.
