Program Goals

1) conduct research to address important questions in urban environmental sustainability in an interdisciplinary research and action framework utilizing existing faculty expertise and accomplishments

2) establish programs that provide instruction to undergraduate and graduate students, by creating an undergraduate major in urban environmental sustainability and an applied master’s degree program. An internship program will integrate community-based research opportunities and practical work experience.

3) build university/community coalitions and collaboration in the development of research and curricula, and the exchange of information in order to identify and address sustainability issues of primary importance within the communities.
